feels:</p>\r\n<ul>\r\n<li>\r\n<p>Unspectacular</p>\r\n</li>\r\n<li>\r\n<p>Repetitive</p>\r\n</li>\r\n<li>\r\n<p>Hidden</p>\r\n</li>\r\n<li>\r\n<p>Unnoticed by others</p>\r\n</li>\r\n</ul>\r\n<p>That does not make it unimportant.</p>\r\n<p>It makes it formative.</p>\r\n<blockquote>\r\n<p><strong>“Whoever is faithful in very little is also faithful in much.”</strong> (Luke breakthroughs</p>\r\n</li>\r\n</ul>\r\n<p>Instead of steady faithfulness.</p>\r\n<p>God shapes people through:</p>\r\n<ul>\r\n<li>\r\n<p>Consistent prayer</p>\r\n</li>\r\n<li>\r\n<p>Regular repentance</p>\r\n</li>\r\n<li>\r\n<p>Ongoing humility</p>\r\n</li>\r\n<li>\r\n<p>Repeated trust</p>\r\n</li>\r\n</ul>\r\n<p>This is slow work.</p>\r\n<p>And it lasts.</p>\r\n<div><hr></div>\r\n<h2 forming:</p>\r\n<ul>\r\n<li>\r\n<p>Character</p>\r\n</li>\r\n<li>\r\n<p>Discernment</p>\r\n</li>\r\n<li>\r\n<p>Endurance</p>\r\n</li>\r\n<li>\r\n<p>Humility</p>\r\n</li>\r\n<li>\r\n<p>Love</p>\r\n</li>\r\n</ul>\r\n<blockquote>\r\n<p><strong>“He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion.”</strong> (Philippians 1:6)</p>\r\n</blockquote>\r\n<p>God’s will is not just about what happens <em>to</em> you.</p>\r\n<p>It is about what happens <em>in</em> you.</p>\r\n<div><hr></div>\r\n<h2 class=\"header-anchor-post\">Faithfulness Even When Nothing Changes</h2>\r\n<div class=\"pencraft pc-display-flex pc-alignItems-center validated by trust.</p>\r\n<p>God often does His deepest work below the surface.</p>\r\n<div><hr></div>\r\n<h2 class=\"header-anchor-post\">The Long Arc of Trust</h2>\r\n<div class=\"pencraft Instead, it holds two truths side by side:</p>\r\n<ul>\r\n<li>\r\n<p>God is sovereign</p>\r\n</li>\r\n<li>\r\n<p>Humans are responsible</p>\r\n</li>\r\n</ul>\r\n<p>And it refuses to erase either one.</p>\r\n<div><hr></div>\r\n<div><hr></div>\r\n<h2 class=\"header-anchor-post\">Free Will Is Not an Illusion</h2>\r\n<div class=\"pencraft pc-display-flex pc-alignItems-center pc-position-absolute pc-reset header-anchor-parent\">\r\n<div class=\"pencraft pc-display-contents pc-reset pubTheme-yiXxQA\">\r\n<div id=\"§free-will-is-not-an-illusion\" class=\"pencraft pc-reset header-anchor offset-top\"></div>\r\n<button class=\"pencraft pc-reset pencraft iconButton-mq_Et5 iconButtonBase-dJGHgN buttonBase-GK1x3M buttonStyle-r7yGCK size_sm-G3LciD priority_secondary-S63h9o\" tabindex=\"0\" type=\"button\" aria-label=\"Link\" data-href=\"https://gregloucks.substack.com/i/187170056/free-will-is-not-an-illusion\"></button></div>\r\n</div>\r\n<p>One common fear is that God’s foreknowledge turns us into puppets.</p>\r\n<p>If God already knows what you’ll do, then surely you couldn’t do otherwise — right?</p>\r\n<p>But Scripture consistently treats human choice as <strong>real, meaningful, and weighty</strong>.</p>\r\n<ul>\r\n<li>\r\n<p>God invites, warns, commands, and pleads</p>\r\n</li>\r\n<li>\r\n<p>People obey, resist, repent, and rebel</p>\r\n</li>\r\n<li>\r\n<p>Consequences follow</p>\r\n</li>\r\n</ul>\r\n<blockquote>\r\n<p><strong>“Choose this day whom you will serve.”</strong> (Joshua 24:15)</p>\r\n</blockquote>\r\n<p>That invitation only makes sense if the choice is genuine.</p>\r\n<p>Free will in the biblical sense does not mean absolute independence from God.</p>\r\n<p>It means real agency within a relationship.</p>\r\n<div><hr></div>\r\n<h2 class=\"header-anchor-post\">God’s Knowledge Does Not Equal God’s Control</h2>\r\n<div class=\"pencraft pc-display-flex pc-alignItems-center pc-position-absolute pc-reset header-anchor-parent\">\r\n<div class=\"pencraft pc-display-contents pc-reset pubTheme-yiXxQA\">\r\n<div id=\"§gods-knowledge-does-not-equal-gods-control\" class=\"pencraft pc-reset header-anchor offset-top\"></div>\r\n<button class=\"pencraft pc-reset pencraft iconButton-mq_Et5 iconButtonBase-dJGHgN buttonBase-GK1x3M buttonStyle-r7yGCK size_sm-G3LciD priority_secondary-S63h9o\" tabindex=\"0\" type=\"button\" aria-label=\"Link\" data-href=\"https://gregloucks.substack.com/i/187170056/gods-knowledge-does-not-equal-gods-control\"></button></div>\r\n</div>\r\n<p>Knowing something will happen is not the same as causing it to happen.</p>\r\n<p>A teacher may know a student will procrastinate. A parent may know how a child will respond.</p>\r\n<p>That knowledge does not remove freedom — it reflects understanding.</p>\r\n<p>God’s foreknowledge is perfect, but it does not coerce.</p>\r\n<blockquote>\r\n<p><strong>Pull Quote:</strong> <em>God’s knowing your choice does not force your choice.</em></p>\r\n</blockquote>\r\n<p>God sees the whole story at once, but you still live it line by line.</p>\r\n<div><hr></div>\r\n<h2 class=\"header-anchor-post\">God Is Outside of Time — We Are Inside It</h2>\r\n<div class=\"pencraft pc-display-flex pc-alignItems-center pc-position-absolute pc-reset header-anchor-parent\">\r\n<div class=\"pencraft pc-display-contents pc-reset pubTheme-yiXxQA\">\r\n<div id=\"§god-is-outside-of-time-we-are-inside-it\" class=\"pencraft pc-reset header-anchor offset-top\"></div>\r\n<button class=\"pencraft pc-reset pencraft iconButton-mq_Et5 iconButtonBase-dJGHgN buttonBase-GK1x3M buttonStyle-r7yGCK size_sm-G3LciD priority_secondary-S63h9o\" tabindex=\"0\" type=\"button\" aria-label=\"Link\" data-href=\"https://gregloucks.substack.com/i/187170056/god-is-outside-of-time-we-are-inside-it\"></button></div>\r\n</div>\r\n<p>One of the simplest ways Christians have understood foreknowledge is this:</p>\r\n<p>God is not moving through time the way we do.</p>\r\n<p>We experience:</p>\r\n<ul>\r\n<li>\r\n<p>Past → Present → Future</p>\r\n</li>\r\n</ul>\r\n<p>God sees:</p>\r\n<ul>\r\n<li>\r\n<p>All of it — fully, eternally, simultaneously</p>\r\n</li>\r\n</ul>\r\n<p>This means God does not “look ahead” and then react. He eternally knows.</p>\r\n<p>Your decisions are free <strong>as you experience them</strong>, even though God eternally knows them.</p>\r\n<p>Mystery? Yes. Contradiction? No.</p>\r\n<div><hr></div>\r\n<h2 class=\"header-anchor-post\">Why God Allows Real Choice</h2>\r\n<div class=\"pencraft pc-display-flex pc-alignItems-center pc-position-absolute pc-reset header-anchor-parent\">\r\n<div class=\"pencraft pc-display-contents pc-reset pubTheme-yiXxQA\">\r\n<div id=\"§why-god-allows-real-choice\" class=\"pencraft pc-reset header-anchor offset-top\"></div>\r\n<button class=\"pencraft pc-reset pencraft iconButton-mq_Et5 iconButtonBase-dJGHgN buttonBase-GK1x3M buttonStyle-r7yGCK size_sm-G3LciD priority_secondary-S63h9o\" tabindex=\"0\" type=\"button\" aria-label=\"Link\" data-href=\"https://gregloucks.substack.com/i/187170056/why-god-allows-real-choice\"></button></div>\r\n</div>\r\n<p>God could have created a world where obedience was automatic.</p>\r\n<p>He didn’t.</p>\r\n<p>Because love that is programmed is not love. Trust that is forced is not trust.</p>\r\n<p>God desires relationship — not compliance.</p>\r\n<p>That requires freedom.</p>\r\n<p>Freedom always includes risk.</p>\r\n<blockquote>\r\n<p><strong>“You meant it for evil, but God meant it for good.”</strong> (Genesis 50:20)</p>\r\n</blockquote>\r\n<p>Notice:</p>\r\n<ul>\r\n<li>\r\n<p>Human intent was real</p>\r\n</li>\r\n<li>\r\n<p>God’s redemptive purpose was greater</p>\r\n</li>\r\n</ul>\r\n<p>Same event. Two intentions.</p>\r\n<div><hr></div>\r\n<h2 class=\"header-anchor-post\">What About Wrong Decisions?</h2>\r\n<div class=\"pencraft pc-display-flex pc-alignItems-center pc-position-absolute pc-reset header-anchor-parent\">\r\n<div class=\"pencraft pc-display-contents pc-reset pubTheme-yiXxQA\">\r\n<div id=\"§what-about-wrong-decisions\" class=\"pencraft pc-reset header-anchor offset-top\"></div>\r\n<button class=\"pencraft pc-reset pencraft iconButton-mq_Et5 iconButtonBase-dJGHgN buttonBase-GK1x3M buttonStyle-r7yGCK size_sm-G3LciD priority_secondary-S63h9o\" tabindex=\"0\" type=\"button\" aria-label=\"Link\" data-href=\"https://gregloucks.substack.com/i/187170056/what-about-wrong-decisions\"></button></div>\r\n</div>\r\n<p>This is where many believers carry unnecessary fear.</p>\r\n<p>They assume:</p>\r\n<ul>\r\n<li>\r\n<p>One wrong choice ruins God’s plan</p>\r\n</li>\r\n<li>\r\n<p>Missed opportunities are permanent</p>\r\n</li>\r\n<li>\r\n<p>God’s will is fragile</p>\r\n</li>\r\n</ul>\r\n<p>But Scripture tells a different story.</p>\r\n<p>God’s will is <strong>resilient</strong>.</p>\r\n<p>David failed spectacularly. Peter denied Jesus. Paul persecuted the church.</p>\r\n<p>None of them outran God’s ability to redeem.</p>\r\n<blockquote>\r\n<p><strong>Pull Quote:</strong> <em>God is not waiting for you to guess correctly — He is inviting you to stay surrendered.</em></p>\r\n</blockquote>\r\n<div><hr></div>\r\n<h2 class=\"header-anchor-post\">God Directs Paths, Not Just Destinations</h2>\r\n<div class=\"pencraft pc-display-flex pc-alignItems-center pc-position-absolute pc-reset header-anchor-parent\">\r\n<div class=\"pencraft pc-display-contents pc-reset pubTheme-yiXxQA\">\r\n<div id=\"§god-directs-paths-not-just-destinations\" class=\"pencraft pc-reset header-anchor offset-top\"></div>\r\n<button class=\"pencraft pc-reset pencraft iconButton-mq_Et5 iconButtonBase-dJGHgN buttonBase-GK1x3M buttonStyle-r7yGCK size_sm-G3LciD priority_secondary-S63h9o\" tabindex=\"0\" type=\"button\" aria-label=\"Link\" data-href=\"https://gregloucks.substack.com/i/187170056/god-directs-paths-not-just-destinations\"></button></div>\r\n</div>\r\n<p>Proverbs does not promise a perfectly predicted future.</p>\r\n<p>It promises guidance.</p>\r\n<blockquote>\r\n<p><strong>“In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will direct your paths.”</strong> (Proverbs 3:6)</p>\r\n</blockquote>\r\n<p>Paths are walked step by step.</p>\r\n<p>Direction is ongoing.</p>\r\n<p>God’s faithfulness is not proven by preventing every wrong turn — but by meeting us on them.</p>\r\n<div><hr></div>\r\n<h2 class=\"header-anchor-post\">Freedom Builds Faith</h2>\r\n<div class=\"pencraft pc-display-flex pc-alignItems-center pc-position-absolute pc-reset header-anchor-parent\">\r\n<div class=\"pencraft pc-display-contents pc-reset pubTheme-yiXxQA\">\r\n<div id=\"§freedom-builds-faith\" class=\"pencraft pc-reset header-anchor offset-top\"></div>\r\n<button class=\"pencraft pc-reset pencraft iconButton-mq_Et5 iconButtonBase-dJGHgN buttonBase-GK1x3M buttonStyle-r7yGCK size_sm-G3LciD priority_secondary-S63h9o\" tabindex=\"0\" type=\"button\" aria-label=\"Link\" data-href=\"https://gregloucks.substack.com/i/187170056/freedom-builds-faith\"></button></div>\r\n</div>\r\n<p>If every choice were predetermined and unavoidable, faith would be unnecessary.</p>\r\n<p>But faith grows because:</p>\r\n<ul>\r\n<li>\r\n<p>We must trust without full certainty</p>\r\n</li>\r\n<li>\r\n<p>We must choose without full visibility</p>\r\n</li>\r\n<li>\r\n<p>We must rely on God moment by moment</p>\r\n</li>\r\n</ul>\r\n<p>Free will is not a threat to faith. It is a <strong>relationship</strong>.</p>\r\n<p>And God rarely reveals the whole road at once.</p>\r\n<div><hr></div>\r\n<div><hr></div>\r\n<h2 class=\"header-anchor-post\">The Myth of the One Giant Plan</h2>\r\n<div class=\"pencraft pc-display-flex pc-alignItems-center pc-position-absolute pc-reset header-anchor-parent\">\r\n<div class=\"pencraft pc-display-contents pc-reset pubTheme-yiXxQA\">\r\n<div id=\"§the-myth-of-the-one-giant-plan\" class=\"pencraft pc-reset header-anchor offset-top\"></div>\r\n<button class=\"pencraft pc-reset pencraft iconButton-mq_Et5 iconButtonBase-dJGHgN buttonBase-GK1x3M buttonStyle-r7yGCK size_sm-G3LciD priority_secondary-S63h9o\" tabindex=\"0\" type=\"button\" aria-label=\"Link\" data-href=\"https://gregloucks.substack.com/i/187169932/the-myth-of-the-one-giant-plan\"></button></div>\r\n</div>\r\n<p>Many believers grow up believing:</p>\r\n<ul>\r\n<li>\r\n<p>God has <strong>one perfect plan</strong> for your life</p>\r\n</li>\r\n<li>\r\n<p>That plan has a specific ending you must discover</p>\r\n</li>\r\n<li>\r\n<p>If you choose wrong, you derail it</p>\r\n</li>\r\n</ul>\r\n<p>This way of thinking sounds spiritual, but it often produces fear, paralysis, and anxiety — not faith.</p>\r\n<p>When we read Scripture carefully, we notice something striking:</p>\r\n<p>God almost never gives people the full picture.</p>\r\n<ul>\r\n<li>\r\n<p>Abraham is told to go — not where (Genesis 12)</p>\r\n</li>\r\n<li>\r\n<p>Israel is led by a pillar — step by step, day by day (Exodus 13)</p>\r\n</li>\r\n<li>\r\n<p>The disciples follow Jesus — without knowing the cross is coming (Matthew 16)</p>\r\n</li>\r\n</ul>\r\n<p>God does not hand out detailed life maps. He invites people into <strong>daily trust</strong>.</p>\r\n<blockquote>\r\n<p><strong>“Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.”</strong> (Psalm 119:105)</p>\r\n</blockquote>\r\n<p>A lamp does not reveal the entire journey. Your responsibility matters.</p>\r\n<p>But God’s sovereignty is not fragile.</p>\r\n<p>Even wrong turns, delays, and detours can become instruments of growth when placed back in His hands.</p>\r\n<blockquote>\r\n<p><strong>“In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will direct your paths.”</strong> (Proverbs 3:6)</p>\r\n</blockquote>\r\n<p>Notice the partnership:</p>\r\n<ul>\r\n<li>\r\n<p><em>Your ways</em></p>\r\n</li>\r\n<li>\r\n<p><em>Your steps</em></p>\r\n</li>\r\n<li>\r\n<p><em>His direction</em></p>\r\n</li>\r\n</ul>\r\n<p>This is not puppetry. Small moments of surrender.</p>\r\n<p>Over time, these shape:</p>\r\n<ul>\r\n<li>\r\n<p>Discernment</p>\r\n</li>\r\n<li>\r\n<p>Spiritual maturity</p>\r\n</li>\r\n<li>\r\n<p>Courage</p>\r\n</li>\r\n<li>\r\n<p>Deeper intimacy with God</p>\r\n</li>\r\n</ul>\r\n<p>You don’t stumble into God’s will by accident.
